We recently had a question from one of our customers about a Quicktime problem. Everytime she went to watch the videos, she could hear them just fine, but QuickTime showed only a green screen. Here's the solution: Open up QuickTime and go to Preferences. Then, under Display Settings (or Video Settings depending upon your version) uncheck the bottom two boxes. Click "apply" and you should be good-to-go. |

While we're big dreamhost fans here at Simple Subjects, a lot of our customers use GoDaddy for hosting. So we thought it'd make sense to provide a few pointers on GoDaddy installation:
After downloading the Joomla files, unzipping them, and uploading them to your server via FTP, you'll need to take the following steps: - In the GoDaddy Hosting Manager click the MySQL icon to setup an SQL database. Go ahead and choose a name for your database. (It doesn't matter what the name is, but it'll have to be something that nobody else has used before, so it might take a try or two.)
- Choose a password. Click Continue, then click Create Database.
- Write down the database name and the host name that it gives you. These will be used on the "Database Configuration" step of your Joomla installation.
Other than that, you should be good-to-go by following the normal Joomla installation instructions. |

Carlos from The Baja Chronicle asks: I'm trying to find how to replace the "masthead" on top across the entire page on all the pages. Where is that? I already have a jpg ready to drop in there. Thanks again. Answer: The image that you want to replace is called mw_joomla_logo.png and it will be located in your /templates /rhuk_milkyway /images directory.
An easy way to make the switch would be to rename the file as mw_joomla_logo_ORIGINAL.png. Then upload your site's actual logo and simply title it "mw_joomla_logo.png" This way you don't actually have to change the reference to the file name within your template.
Also, just fyi, there's an easy way to figure out the name of any image that you want to replace: while looking at the page in your brower, just right click the image and choose "view background image." Then take a look at the url in your brower, and it'll be showing you the file name (and where it's located ). |

I recently received an email from a Mac user, asking for where they could find the Mac version of Joomla, as there didn't appear to be one available on the Joomla site. The answer? There's no need for a Mac version. That's because you aren't installing Joomla on your own computer. You're actually installing it on a computer owned by your hosting company. So just go ahead and download the regular version of Joomla, and follow all the normal instructions. |
